Our client was driving safely on State Route 53 and abiding by all traffic laws when another driver failed to yield and turned left directly in front of him. Unable to stop, our client collided with the other vehicle. After impact, our client’s vehicle struck a street sign, went down an embankment, and overturned.
As a result, our client was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. Upon extraction, our client was unable to sit, stand, or walk without assistance and had blood pouring down his face. He was strapped to a backboard and immobilized, and he could not comprehend or answer the questions authorities asked him – signs of a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Serious Injuries and Complications
After first responders rushed our client to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center (PARMC), he was diagnosed with a severe scalp laceration, multiple skull fractures, a brain hemorrhage, and fractures in his collar bone and shoulder blade. PARMC admitted our client to the hospital and treated his injuries. Days later, he had to return to the hospital for complications.
Our client’s injuries were worse than doctors originally suspected, and he had to undergo emergency surgical intervention to his right clavicle. In addition, this collision also caused an injury to his cervical spine which required surgical intervention. Now, he has hardware installed in his right clavicle and will be subject to medical treatment and potential complications for the rest of his days on earth.
Additionally, our client suffered a TBI at the scene of the accident, which has led to neurological injuries like blurred vision, severe headaches, memory loss, sleep disturbance, dizziness, pain, and fatigue.
Trouble with State Farm
